Sustain the Benin IXP

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT 

The project aims to support and strengthen the Benin Internet Exchange (BeninIX) through strategic initiatives such as capacity-building workshops to educate both non-technical and technical individuals about the advantages of efficient Internet traffic exchange and its significance in improving connectivity. It also aims to build a comprehensive business plan to empower and ensure long-term sustainability, supported by improvements to the technical infrastructure. Finally, the project aims to develop a communication and engagement plan to actively engage with relevant stakeholders (including network operators, Internet service providers, government agencies, and potential participants) and position BeninIX as a vital hub for Internet traffic exchange. Targeted outreach activities aim to foster collaboration, attract new members to BeninIX, and ensure active participation within the community.  

WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT? 

This project enhances Internet connectivity, promotes growth, and solidifies the IXP’s role in Benin’s digital landscape. It is crucial for the community to explore sustainable financing options for the ongoing operations of BeninIX to benefit Internet users and eventually, the entire country.
