OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT
The project aims to provide additional learning opportunities via offline access to digital learning materials such as Wikipedia and Khan Academy for high schoolers and to communities in general, especially in rural, remote, and mountainous areas.
WHY IS THIS PROJECT IMPORTANT?
Schools in Kyrgyzstan desperately need more teachers. There are over 2,500 teaching positions not being filled every year, most of them in the fields of natural sciences. Thus, many students miss the opportunity to study such important subjects as math, physics, chemistry, and computer sciences. In addition, in the PISA learning assessment, students from the Kyrgyz Republic took the last place out of the total participating countries in 2016 and 2009. The project gives students the opportunity to access Khan Academy, Wikipedia, and other digital study materials in local languages offline.
